My collection of aboriginal art and new guinea artefacts comes from family and from the many years I spent in the central desert.

Some of the pieces, including a didgeridoo made by Naratjin Maymuru were collected by my father who was a marine engineer on cargo ships that supplied the top end in the wet season. Often artefacts were traded for alcohol by the ships crews. Whilst not condoning this practice, it was the usual and no  harm was meant at the time. This was during the  time of the late 50's to mid sixties, when indigenous people were not allowed to buy alcohol. Other pieces were collected in New Guinea in the middle sixties.

Other paintings and artefacts and baskets were purchased over a ten year period 1993-2003 from the Central Desert area of Australia.
